“The difference between a hacker and a cybercriminal is intent. A hacker wants to understand and protect; a cybercriminal wants to exploit.” — Kevin Mitnick

An expert hacker is invaluable in today’s cyberwarfare and geopolitics. Recognizing this, governments and companies worldwide have changed dramatically to attract the latest wave of state-sponsored hackers.

The need for skilled hackers has increased significantly, making hacking one of the most sought-after skill sets of the twenty-first century.

Hacking is exciting, though, and it’s not just about those excellent six-figure wages. So, in just a few months, how can one begin their adventure as an ethical hacker and acquire the necessary skills? Now, let’s get started.

Before we go any further, I want to tell you that becoming an experienced hacker won’t take months; only the absolute basics might follow. Hacking is a skill that you never stop learning.

Use the Search engines.

Before we continue with the article, I would like to explain that ethical hacking and everything related to it starts with an online search. Search well. I will soon write an article about how best to look and where!

This is primarily because only some things can be found on search engines anymore; the more skills you acquire, the more often you have to do it yourself.

Step 1: Embrace Linux

The first crucial step to becoming a great hacker is to switch from your traditional operating system to Linux.

But why Linux? Unlike Windows or Apple's macOS, Linux is transparent, allowing you to see and manipulate all its components, giving you unparalleled control over your system. There are an enormous number of different Linux to use. Kali Linux and Parrot Security are best known for ethical hacking.

Moreover, over 90% of hacking tools are designed for Linux. To get started, check out my articles on Hackingpassion.com
